Time’s Commission

“Moros y Cristianos” (Moors and christians) is a festival celebrated in the South-East part of Spain. It commemorates the battles between Christians and Muslims from the 8th to the 15th century.

This tradition has a theatrical component and it has been adapted and changed over the time. People get dressed either as a Moor or as a Christian.

Parades, shows and horse competitions take place.

These images are taken in a small village called Mojácar. The whole village gets prepared during one year for this event. It’s a moment when current political and cultural differences disappear to enjoy a shared staged fantasy!
